Dereka Dodson first hit the headlines in 1980 when she was rescued after four days alone in a life raft, lost in a freak storm off the coast of North Carolina.

Losing her soulmate, Angus, to the massive waves, she was ‘told’ she would be rescued in four days. Such an experience changed Dereka’s life for ever. She explored Peru, Egypt, America, Scotland and England, and found messages of comfort within the crop circles of Wiltshire.

Her greatest discovery, however, was that the famed seven colours of the rainbow, a traditional promise of hope, had now become nine. In addition to shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, a heavenly aquamarine and then pink had been added. For Dereka, it truly was the new rainbow bridge.
