About Dereka

Dereka Dodson was born in Guildford, Surrey in 1944. She was educated at Manor House School in Little Bookham and at Guildford High School for Girls.

She studied dentistry at King’s College Hospital in South London. After qualifying in 1967 she worked first at King’s as Resident Dental House Surgeon and then as an Assistant Lecturer on the Academic Training Scheme.

In 1969 she joined a practice in Redhill, Surrey, and worked as an NHS General Dental Practitioner until the year 2000.

In 1998 Dereka became fascinated by the crop circles she discovered in Wiltshire and moved there two years later in order to study them further. She was Membership Secretary of the Wiltshire Crop Circle Study Group (WCCSG) for five years but gave up this voluntary post in 2004 and started writing.

For the last few years she has worked as a volunteer for the National Trust helping to take people on tours of the stones at Avebury.
